There are Macworld Best of Show winners, Apple Design Award winners, and Macworld Eddy winners. There are programs so new they haven’t even been reviewed yet. There are games, utilities, system enhancements and much more, and it’s all 20% off.

What do we, the participants of MacSanta, all have in common? We’re all coming together and offering discounts in the hopes of more people checking out the great Mac software you might not find in the Apple store. In exchange, you can learn about some new stuff you’ve never heard of before, and get a great deal on purchasing it. Not too shabby!

The Future Of DRM

Lately there’s been a fair amount of discussion on the future of DRM, and labels potentially falling out of love with it. If we’re really lucky, we’ll go back to having real access to the music we purchase. But in the real-world, we’re as likely to wind up with something much worse and much more restrictive. As a businessman, I don’t know that I should complain. As a consumer, however, it’s terrible.

Anyhow, Bill Gates spoke on this recently. The most interesting quote was this:

“People should just buy a cd and rip it. You are legal then.”

I was thinking this was perhaps a dangerous thing to say, until I realized he could just buy all the music labels.

Now More Award Winning Than Ever!

Macworld Eddy 2006Twenty two years ago, Macworld magazine started a tradition, giving out annual editor’s choice awards known as the Eddys. Two years ago, we earned our first Eddy award, with Nicecast. Today, we’re pleased to announce that Fission has brought us our second Eddy award! Fission has been met with rave reviews, and now it’s won the first of what we hope will be many awards.

If you haven’t been paying attention, Fission is our newest product. Fission is an audio editor designed to provide fast and lossless splitting and trimming of audio files. With Fission, you can edit MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, and AIFF/WAV files, trimming out portions you don’t need or breaking them up into multiple smaller files.

So why not try out our newest award-winner right now? You can download Fission 1.1 or visit the Fission page for more information.
