802.11n AirPort Express Units Now Supported By Airfoil

As you may have seen, Apple released new AirPort Express units yesterday. We picked up a unit as quickly as possibly to test with Airfoil, and quickly discovered that Airfoil wasn’t quite compatible with it. Mike and David worked quickly to rectify the situation, and we’ve now got updates to Airfoil for Mac and Airfoil for Windows respectively.

Airfoil for Mac 3.1.2 and Airfoil for Windows 2.5.1 each feature full support for the 802.11n AirPort Express units, as well as other minor bug fixes. They can be downloaded right away, so visit the Airfoil for Mac and Airfoil for Windows pages now to get the latest versions.

Great response time. Gotta love that.

  2. JonB says:

Cool, it works with the new Airport Express; however, I’m not getting audio from my networked Macs using AirFoil Speakers. It shows up as receiving, but no audio. Icon says digital…

  3. WillyK says:

JonB, are your Macs networked using both WiFi and Ethernet? Disconnect one network and AirFoil Speakers should work.

  4. JB says:

Is that a new restriction? I’ve never had a problem with that before.

  5. JonB says:

The new update, 3.1.3 fixed my issue. I’m now able to send audio to new Airport Extemes, wireless notebooks and wired computers on my network as I should be. Thanks for the quick updates!

  6. WillyK says:

The solution (disconnecting one network) was suggested to me by Rogue Amoeba. Happy to hear the issue has now been fixed with 3.1.3. Haven’t checked it out yet. BTW, streaming video from EyeTV to the other computer didn’t work either until I disconnected one network.

  7. JonB says:

@WillyK, Thanks for the info! I haven’t tried video streaming from EyeTV yet. I’ll keep the network issue in mind though as part of any troubleshooting I may need to do.

  8. Adam Urban says:

With the latest airfoil and the latest software update on my new 802.11n airport express (7.3.1) I can’t get Airfoil to accept the password for my airtunes… iTunes works fine with it. Not sure if this is the result of the new airport update or something else; anyone have any ideas?
