Audio Tweaking

Because I have a 33.6K modem connection at home, I’m forced to listen to many 24Kbps radio streams. The audio quality of those streams is barely acceptable to my ears, so I use some sound enhancement plug-ins to tweak them a bit.As you might know Audio Hijack Pro can use sound processing plug-ins to tweak and enhance the sound quality of hijacked audio. Because I have a 33.6K modem connection at home, I’m forced to listen to many 24Kbps radio streams. The audio quality of those streams is barely acceptable to my ears, so I use some sound enhancement plug-ins to tweak them a bit.Two basic plug-ins I use are Excitifier, which creates high-freqency harmonics (increases the frequency range of audio) and Mono Enhancer, which creates a pseudo-stereo sound image of mono signal. I have made two DSP patches for AH Pro tuned to my taste and I hope you will find them useful.
The first patch is for 24Kbps streams, when I listen to them with the Mac’s built-in speaker:Download the 24Kbps patch
The second patch is for 24Kbps streams as well, but includes Mono Enhancer to get a richer sound with headphones:Download the 24Kbps (pseudo stereo) patch
To use these patch files: First, download one or both of the patch files. Open AH Pro, and open a preset in AH Pro. Go to the Control menu, and select Open Patch File…. Find the patch file you just downloaded, and click Open. Now, your DSP area will be configured according to the specifications in the patch file.
Happy listening!
